Job summary

Murphy Home Furnishing is seeking an experienced HR Manager for maternity cover (12 months fixed term) based in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The role leads HR across the business, ensuring compliance, employee relations, recruitment, training, and GDPR‑compliant administration.

The successful candidate will partner with senior leaders, support performance management and development, and help foster a positive workplace culture while adhering to employment legislation. Salary €50,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• A third-level qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Human Resources Generalist or HR Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of Irish employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Experience managing employee relations cases and providing advice to managers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
• Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience in a multi-site retail or customer-focused environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
• CIPD qualification or working towards same would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees across the business.
• Manage employee relations matters, ensuring issues are handled professionally, fairly, and in line with company policies and employment legislation.
• Coordinate and manage recruitment activities including advertising vacancies, screening candidates, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
• Support managers with performance management, disciplinary procedures, grievance processes, and employee development plans.
• Maintain accurate HR records and employee documentation, ensuring compliance with GDPR and company standards.
• Administer employee leave, probation reviews, contract changes, and other HR-related processes.
• Work closely with managers to identify training and development needs and support learning initiatives across the company.
• Assist with the implementation and communication of HR policies, procedures, and company initiatives.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practice HR standards.
• Support employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives, and company culture programmes.
• Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation for senior management as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance HR processes and employee experience.
• Ensure department KPIs are maintained or improved.
• Prepare weekly HR reports for meeting with CEO/COO.
