Are you experienced in identifying opportunities early and securing new projects? Then, join us to shape a sustainable and liveable world.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

To expand our business in Ireland, we are looking for a Market Director – Ireland (Infrastructure and Renewable Energy) to join us. Working on a remit that will span infrastructure, including rail, roads, ports and marine, and aviation, alongside renewable energy opportunities and their associated infrastructure including transmission, district heating and offshore wind. You’ll work with our Senior Market Director, developing our client, developer and contractor portfolio, shape market priorities and lead opportunities from early engagement through capture and bidding. You’ll also connect client needs in Ireland with technical and delivery expertise across COWI’s Ireland and UK businesses and COWI Group, maintaining client continuity through project delivery.

Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Shape market strategy and growth: Work with market leadership colleagues to develop and implement focused strategies and action plans that meet infrastructure and renewable energy growth targets in Ireland.
  • Build client, developer and contractor relationships: Develop trusted networks across Ireland’s infrastructure and renewable energy markets, including asset owners, developers, contractors and partners, and establish partnerships that create consultancy and design and build opportunities.
  • Develop a qualified pipeline: Identify and shape infrastructure and renewable energy opportunities early, maintain an up-to-date pipeline for Ireland, and apply the Go / No Go process.
  • Lead capture and bids: Develop work-winning strategies for major and regional opportunities and deliver high-quality proposals with technical colleagues and the Bid Support Team.
  • Shape attractive commercial offers: Work with Executing Unit leads to develop commercial propositions that align client needs with contractual, financial and delivery considerations.
  • Manage key accounts and frameworks: Lead selected client accounts and framework management activities, maintaining customer focus and continuity through delivery.
  • Connect market insight with technical expertise: Share insight into Ireland’s infrastructure and renewable energy clients and opportunities with Executing Unit leads across Ireland, the UK and COWI Group, and identify technical development needs for line management.
What success looks like:

A stronger qualified pipeline across infrastructure and renewable energy in Ireland, improved conversion of priority opportunities, deeper client, developer and contractor relationships, and growth supported by effective account and framework management.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

You’ll bring clear direction, commercial judgement and a collaborative approach to work winning. You can lead multidisciplinary pursuits, influence across the business and bring together technical and bid expertise around client needs. You encourage ownership, constructive dialogue and an inclusive culture built on trust.

On top of that, you’ll have:
  • Experience in engineering-sector business development, with evidence of winning consultancy work and implementing strategies that deliver revenue and growth.
  • A solid background in infrastructure and/or renewable energy, with an understanding of the Irish market and the ability to develop opportunities across both sectors.
  • Experience leading capture strategies, major proposals and market initiatives within consulting or engineering.
  • An established network of relevant clients, developers, contractors and partners in Ireland, and the ability to build trusted relationships that support COWI’s infrastructure and renewable energy growth.
  • Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of consultancy contracts, risk and financial performance.
  • The ability to coordinate work-winning activity collaboratively and support technical, commercial and delivery colleagues.
Desirable experience and qualifications
  • Previous experience as an engineer within an engineering consultancy, contractor or client organisation.
  • Chartered engineer status is desirable rather than essential.
