Job summary

Moofwd is seeking a Manager, Product Development – API Governance to lead API governance, standards, and lifecycle management within the Developer Experience team. You will drive the product vision, define requirements, and partner with engineering to execute the roadmap, while applying AI-powered tools to accelerate delivery.

With at least 5 years in related product roles, you will apply payments industry knowledge to ensure secure, usable, scalable APIs across markets.

Qualifications

Manager, Product Development – API Governance

Lead API governance, standards, and lifecycle management for a fintech organisation's Developer Experience team, combining product expertise with AI-driven innovation to enhance developer experience and accelerate delivery.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead the API Consultancy & Standards capability within the Developer Experience team at a leading fintech organisation. This role focuses on API governance, standards, and lifecycle management, ensuring APIs meet high standards for security, usability, scalability, and performance. The position combines strong product management expertise with innovation, including the use of AI-powered tools and automation to enhance developer experience, improve governance, and accelerate product delivery.

This is a collaborative role, working closely with engineering, product, technology, and business teams to align priorities, address market requirements, and deliver scalable solutions across diverse markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and deliver the product vision and roadmap for API governance and lifecycle management.
• Define product requirements, user stories, and priorities and partner closely with engineering teams to execute the roadmap.
• Develop tools, frameworks, and processes that simplify API design, strengthen governance, improve compliance, and enhance API performance.
• Establish and maintain API standards, governance frameworks, and lifecycle processes.
• Leverage AI-driven solutions and automation to streamline governance, improve productivity, and enhance developer experience.
• Collaborate with internal technology, product, engineering, and business teams to ensure APIs address real-world business and customer requirements.
• Manage key touchpoints across the API lifecycle, including internal reviews, onboarding, launch, adoption, commercialisation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Ensure API documentation meets defined quality standards and supports a developer-first approach.
• Identify opportunities to improve API usability, consistency, discoverability, and adoption.
• Translate complex technical requirements into clear product strategies, business outcomes, and actionable roadmaps.
• Work effectively with stakeholders across a global, matrixed organisation.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging API standards, fintech developments, and new technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Product Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a similar Product Management, Product Development, API Product, or Technology Product role.
• Proven experience working within the payments industry, preferably in payments technology, fintech, financial services, banking, or a related payments environment.
• Strong understanding of APIs, API standards, governance, and lifecycle management.
• Experience managing technology products, platforms, developer tools, or API ecosystems.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes, product strategies, and priorities.
• Experience working closely with engineering and technology teams in an agile product development environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with API governance, developer experience, API documentation, or related capabilities is highly desirable.
• Interest in and practical understanding of AI, automation, and emerging technology, and how these can be applied to product development.
• Excellent communication, influencing, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
• Comfortable operating in a complex, cross-functional and matrixed environment.
• Strong customer and developer-focused mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar Product Management, Product Development, API Product, or Technology Product role.
• Candidates must have a payments industry background, with experience in payments technology, fintech, financial services, banking, or a closely related payments environment.
• Candidates must be currently based in the Republic of Ireland.
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
