Job summary

SCHUF VALVE TECHNOLOGY GMBH in Cork invites applications for a Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitter Apprenticeship (M.A.M.F). This 4-year programme combines hands-on training with structured instruction as you work toward a Level 6 Advanced Certificate.

You’ll train on manual and CNC machining, bench fitting and assembly, machine maintenance, and reading drawings to precise measurements, while upholding high standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Leaving Certificate completed; engineering/metalwork/graphics an advantage.
• Hands-on approach with focus on quality and safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on training across manual and CNC machining.

Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitter Apprenticeship (M.A.M.F) SchuF is a well-established engineering company based in Cork and part of a global group recognised as a leader in the design and manufacture of industrial valves. Our products are used in critical industries worldwide, and we are known for quality, precision, and reliability. We are now recruiting for Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitter Apprentices to join our 4-year apprenticeship programme.

About the Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship is a strong first step towards a rewarding career. By combining hands‑on experience with structured training, you’ll build valuable skills, learn from experienced professionals, and grow your confidence.

What you’ll learn

As a Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitter, you’ll build a broad range of practical skills, working towards becoming a fully qualified craftsperson (Level 6 Advanced Certificate). Working alongside an experienced team of fitters, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across the full manufacturing process, including:

• Manual and CNC machining
• Bench fitting and assembly
• Maintenance of machines and plant equipment
• Reading drawings and working to precise measurements
• Following high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Have completed their Leaving Certificate (subjects such as Engineering, Metalwork or Technical Graphics are an advantage, but not essential)
• Take pride in doing things right, with a strong focus on quality and safety
• Enjoy hands‑on work and being active
• Have good attention to detail
• Can work well both independently and as part of a team
