Job summary

Mergon is seeking an Apprentice Fitter to join our team. The Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter M.A.M.F. apprenticeship lasts four years under SOLAS, with on-the-job training and courses leading to a National Craft Certificate in this trade.

Successful candidates begin a modern manufacturing career, progressing to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting upon completion.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have passed Ordinary level Maths and English at leaving certificate.
• Interest in engineering and a career in mechanical trade.
• Team player with good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day installation, maintenance and repairs in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and diagrams.
• Work with a variety of specialised tools as part of plant maintenance.
