Job summary

WuXi Biologics Dundalk is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Electrician) to support routine and non-routine maintenance across two Manufacturing units. You will maintain upstream/downstream process equipment, support equipment, and electrical systems, ensuring safe, compliant operations in a collaborative engineering team.

The role involves troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and CPU-based systems, following cGMP practices and lean problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification in Science, Engineering or equivalent electrical/fitter qualifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with good attention to detail and organized work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting support on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and CPU based systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance to plant machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure safe plant operation and adherence to GMP, SOPs and safety standards (LOTO, confined space).
  • Support capital projects and drive improvements to equipment efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering and Manufacturing to maintain data integrity and timely work orders.

Job description

As a Maintenance Technician (Electrician) you will support routine and non-routine maintenance activities within the two Manufacturing organisations at WuXi Biologics Dundalk. The Maintenance technician will be a key part of the Engineering organization. This role will ensure that upstream and downstream process equipment and process support equipment (Parts-Washers, Autoclaves), electrical systems, etc. are maintained and supported at all times. The Maintenance Technician will be key contributor in a dynamic & highly collaborative team environment and play an active role in the achievement of daily Performance targets to a required safety and quality standard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide troubleshooting support on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and CPU based systems including the use of lean problem-solving tools.
  • Work shifts as per site 24/ 7 shift policy to deliver production cover required.
  • Performs & documents the scheduled preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities to plant machinery, equipment, and other systems in accordance with cGMP and excellence in engineering practices.
  • Provide overall daily production support ensuring plant operations are maintained safely whilst ensuring personnel & product safety is maintained at all times.
  • Provides support to capital projects as determined by the business need supporting project scope work and participating actively in associate projects to improve and sustain equipment efficiencies
  • Participate in equipment failure investigations to determine root causes and provides ideas for improvement.
  • Be a key player within the maintenance team to drive improvements to operation equipment efficiencies along with executing continuous improvement projects as required.
  • Supports the Equipment Maintenance Engineers and Reliability Engineers on the implementation of improvement projects, working closely with the team to achieve timelines and key project milestones
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with applicable Standard Procedures, Policies and / or Regulations.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are managed safely, and all associated safety protocols are carried out fully including LOTO, confined space entry along with any other safety related standards. Adhere and advocate high standards of safety at all times.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing organisation to ensure that the status of all plant equipment and systems is communicated and understood at all times.
  • Ensure all engineering work orders and planned maintenance activities are completed in full ensuring a high level of data integrity at all times. Drive compliance to critical PMs and carry out all associated activities as per the work orders or distribution of workload.
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organization of all work areas, workshops and toolboxes.
  • Support all training activities and actively participate in all training as directed by the Manufacturing team.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and controlled documents
  • Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities such as planning activities.
  • Will act as a role model for the Engineering function and also the wider organisation in adherence to the WuXi corporate core values and PROUD culture.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and CPU based systems troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt reliability concepts and technologies and understanding of Manufacturing process.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with pharmaceutical equipment and in a pharmaceutical environment or similar/other regulated industries.
  • Experience with facility start-up projects (brown field or green field) is desirable.
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is desirable
Qualifications
