Job summary

Digital Manufacturing Ireland is seeking a Machine Vision Engineer to advance automation projects by integrating vision systems and developing robust defect-detection algorithms. The role requires collaboration with automation engineers to optimise production lines and stay ahead of industry trends in computer vision for manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cognex, Keyence, Halcon and related platforms, plus PLC programming and robotic integration skills,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronic or Process Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience integrating machine vision systems in automation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and robotic automation tools.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of lighting and lens setup for automation equipment.
  • Ideally experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or other AI tools.

  • Integrate machine vision solutions into automated manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to optimise vision systems in production environments.
  • Develop and deploy vision algorithms for defect detection and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

The Machine Vision Engineer will play a crucial role within the Technology Operations team, focusing on integrating machine vision solutions into automation projects. This position demands proficiency in implementing and enhancing machine vision technologies within automated systems to ensure quality control and operational efficiency. Additionally, the role involves exploring future trends in machine vision and computer vision for manufacturing, as well as staying updated on emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate machine vision solutions into automated manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to optimise vision systems within production environments.
  • Develop and deploy vision algorithms for defect detection and process improvement.
  • Assist in PLC and robotic system integration with machine vision technologies.
  • Provide technical support and training for clients on machine vision solutions.

Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong technical expertise in machine vision systems and automation.
  • Proficiency in Cognex, Keyence, Halcon and similar vision platforms.
  • Experience with PLC programming and robotic systems integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
