Job description

About the role

Deloitte’s Deal Transformation team is growing and seeking an M&A Technology Director to join the next phase of development. You will lead and grow our Technology M&A capability across all aspects of the M&A lifecycle for both buy side and sell side engagements. As the Technology Leader for transactions, you will be responsible for supporting complex integration and separation projects, leading value creation initiatives, and developing M&A tech capability in Deloitte. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Technology professional with experience in M&A or large‑scale technology transformations who is eager to lead and develop a new team in Deloitte Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead IT and technology due diligence across acquisitions and carve outs, assessing enterprise architecture and systems to determine integration or separation complexity, dependencies, risks, opportunities and potential synergies.
  • Develop technology strategies and plans aligned to the deal thesis, value case and synergy assumptions.
  • Support the design of target technology operating models, ensuring alignment with future business structure and deal objectives.
  • Maintain an understanding of cyber security risks and technology regulation, and their implications for M&A transactions (e.g. GDPR and data protection).
  • Estimate one off and run rate technology costs, including stranded costs and TSA implications at pace.
  • Lead end-to-end M&A technology implementation programmes, from strategic planning to execution, by developing clear, actionable roadmaps for integration and separation initiatives. This includes defining sequencing, identifying critical dependencies, determining resourcing needs, and establishing key execution milestones.
  • Provide senior oversight and delivery management of technology workstreams, collaborating closely with deal teams, business leaders, and technology stakeholders.
  • Advise on the structure, scope and commercial implications of Technology Transition Service Agreements (TSAs) to deliver continuity of critical IT services and realistic exit pathways.
  • Support the development and delivery of high quality transaction documentation (e.g. IT integration or separation blueprints, steer‑co reports and papers addressing strategic issues).
  • Lead and contribute to the development of Technology M&A methodologies and tools, staying abreast of technological trends, AI and M&A best practices.
  • Build a team behind you to expand our capability and reach in the market.
  • Take ownership of developing the M&A Technology pipeline by understanding client requirements and identifying opportunities.
About You
  • Proven experience (typically 12+ years) in leading technology programmes for mergers, acquisitions, outsourcing or large‑scale IT transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT architectures, systems integration, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, data management and technology commercials.
  • An ability to operate at pace, taking a structured top down approach to complex issues in environments with incomplete information.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering large, complex programmes on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, capable of influencing senior executives.
  • Experience working in consulting, professional services or client‑facing environments is highly desirable.
  • Relevant project or programme management qualifications such as PMP, Prince2, or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
