Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging group sessions for people with sight loss at the Resource Centre.
  • Plan, develop and deliver activity programmes based on person-centred planning.
  • Maintain and ensure upkeep of areas used to deliver sessions.
  • Take responsibility for an allocated area of the service, delivering and monitoring sessions and resources.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a fully integrated service.
  • Prepare reports for the team and external agencies as required.
  • Act as a Key Worker and liaise with professionals, parents and carers.
  • Attend meetings and promote Vision Ireland policies.
  • Ensure personal property and Vision Ireland resources are protected and used appropriately.

Job description

Job Title: LRC Programme Coordinator: Health & Wellbeing

Work schedule: 15 hours per week. Flexibility is required regarding working days. Some occasional evening & weekend work may be required.

Location: Lochrann Resource Centre, Wexford Town (travel within Wexford may be required)

Contract type: 2 years fixed term contract

Reporting to: National Day & Hub Services Manager

Salary scale: €30,152 - €33,835 (pro-rata €12,223 - €13,716)

Purpose of the Role

The Programme Coordinator assists the National Day & Hub Services Manager & Deputy Resource Centre Manager in running activity sessions based across the Lochrann Resource Centre (LRC) and in the community. You will lead in the planning and delivery of the sessions available from LRC and community based activities. You will be a Keyworker in the service, a central role vital for the care and wellbeing of the service users within the service. Main Duties/Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead engaging group sessions for people with sight loss as part of the programme of activities at the Resource Centre.
  • Plan, develop and deliver activity programmes based on the person-centred planning process.
  • Maintain and ensure the upkeep of areas used to deliver sessions.
  • Take responsibility for an allocated area of the service, managing and developing it by creating, delivering and monitoring appropriate sessions, as well as maintaining relevant equipment and resources.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including day service colleagues, service users and carers, to ensure the delivery of a fully integrated service.
  • Assess the needs of individuals with sight loss and prepare reports, both verbally and in writing, for the wider team, other professionals, external agencies and families.
  • Act as a Key Worker for individuals with sight loss, taking a lead role in support planning and liaising with other professionals, parents and carers as required.
  • Attend team meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Promote awareness of Vision Ireland's policies and procedures in all aspects of your work.
  • Ensure that individuals' personal property and Vision Ireland's resources are respected and used appropriately.
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming and functional environment for both service users and staff.
  • Support and enable individuals to participate in daily activities and programmes.
  • Support the National Day & Hub Services Manager in implementing operational plans for the LRC and the HSE New Directions Policy, while ensuring the delivery of a person-centred service.
  • Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be requested by your Line Manager or Senior Manager, in line with the objectives of the role.

Education and Training
Essential

A recognised QQI qualification in one of the following fields: fitness, health & wellbeing, mental health, disabilities or social care & health

OR

Willingness to complete a QQI facilitator or social care qualification

Desirable

Above criteria plus a working knowledge of "A Total Communication Approach" & disability awareness & social care training.

First Aid Certificate

Essential

Experience within the fitness &/or health & wellbeing industry

Experience of implementing activity programmes with a strong emphasis on progression of skills, in a variety of environments (including community based activities)

Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing.

A positive attitude towards work, colleagues and service users

Ability to meet deadlines.

Commitment to the implementation of Quality Assurance

Desirable

Over 2 years experience working in health/fitness/wellbeing

Minimum of 2 years' experience of working with a learning disability &/or sensory loss.

Experience in using MIS

Experience of liaison with community groups and other service providers
