Live Fraud & Security Incident Response Engineer

Job summary

Stripe is seeking a seasoned security engineer to lead live fraud and abuse incident response, while serving as a technical bridge between incidents and merchants. You will drive remediation, enhance security posture, and protect Stripe’s platform globally.

You will work with a cross-functional team across legal, policy, and threat intelligence, coordinating on high-stakes investigations and rapid risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading security or fraud incident response.
• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Expert knowledge of Python and SQL, and familiarity with other programming languages.
• Experience with log analysis, network security, digital forensics, and incident response investigations.
• Proven ability to build automated response workflows and use threat intelligence for risk mitigation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to live fraud and abuse incidents as a Forward Deployed Security Engineer and mitigate risks across the ecosystem.
• Investigate urgent fraud incidents (ATO, card testing) using detection signals to accelerate response.
• Analyze high-risk accounts to identify fraudulent activity and classify threats with standardized taxonomy.
• Develop and execute incident response strategies and runbooks to improve detection and prevention.
• Act as a technical bridge to merchants, helping remediate vulnerabilities and secure accounts.
• Collaborate with legal, policy, and threat intel teams to coordinate containment and remediation.
• Build relationships with external threat intel communities and law enforcement as needed.
