Job summary

Linkedskills Expert Talent Solutions is seeking a Line Technical Lead for a leading FMCG manufacturer in Dublin. The role is senior, hands-on, responsible for packaging-equipment performance, preventative maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

You will lead maintenance activities and collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Process teams to boost safety, reliability and line performance. Qualified time-served fitters or electricians with 3–5 years in a production setting are

Qualifications

  • Three to five years experience in a comparable production/manufacturing position.
  • Strong practical knowledge of high-speed packaging or manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience leading planned maintenance, major overhauls and equipment-improvement activities.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilities.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement programmes.
  • Understanding of maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability and OEE.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical expert for critical packaging and production equipment.
  • Develop, review and continuously improve maintenance standards and plans.
  • Create and manage maintenance schedules (3, 6, 12 months).
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, cleaning and inspections.
  • Lead equipment troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Train technicians and operators in maintenance and fault-finding.
  • Coach operations teams to improve reliability and capability.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure safety, quality and performance standards.

Line Technical Lead FMCG Manufacturing | Dublin Location: Dublin Salary: €70,000€80,000 DOE Employment Type: Full-Time Sector: FMCG | Manufacturing | Engineering | Maintenance The Opportunity Linkedskills is recruiting an experienced Line Technical Lead for a leading FMCG manufacturing organisation in Dublin. This is a senior, hands‑on engineering position with responsibility for packaging-equipment performance, preventative maintenance, reliability, technical standards and continuous improvement. You will act as a technical expert for critical production equipment, leading maintenance activities and working closely with Engineering, Operations and Process teams to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and overall line performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical expert for critical packaging and production equipment.
  • Develop detailed expertise across key machinery such as fillers, blowers, seamers and labellers.
  • Develop, review and continuously improve maintenance standards and plans.
  • Create, manage and validate three-month, six-month and annual preventative-maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, cleaning and inspection activities and major equipment overhauls.
  • Take ownership of equipment performance, reliability and maintenance costs.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and implement performance improvements.
  • Lead equipment troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Train technicians and operators in maintenance, inspection and fault‑finding activities.
  • Coach operational teams to improve equipment reliability and technical capability.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure compliance with safety, quality and performance standards.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, spare‑parts availability and work‑order execution.
  • Support CapEx, new‑product‑development and continuous‑improvement projects.
  • Maintain effective control of spare‑parts inventory.
  • Lead risk assessments, isolation procedures and LOTO compliance.
  • Promote safe working practices across all maintenance activities.
Essential Requirements

Qualified, time-served Fitter or Electrician. Three to five years experience in a comparable production or manufacturing position. Strong practical knowledge of high‑speed packaging or manufacturing equipment. Experience leading planned maintenance, major overhauls and equipment‑improvement activities. Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding capabilities. Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous‑improvement programmes. Understanding of maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability and OEE. Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance resources. Strong communication, coaching and technical leadership skills. Commitment to safe working practices and LOTO compliance.

Technical Knowledge
  • Mechanical principles, engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Welding processes and material properties.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Circuit diagrams, components and control systems.
  • Process specifications and instrumentation.
  • Sensors, actuators and motion‑control systems.
  • Machinery‑safety standards.
  • Automation technologies used within packaging and production equipment.
  • A higher qualification in mechanical, electrical or automation engineering is desirable but not essential.
Candidate Profile

You will be an experienced engineering professional who can combine hands‑on technical ability with planning, leadership and continuous improvement. You must be confident taking ownership of equipment reliability, maintenance standards, costs and performance. You should also be capable of developing operators and technicians while maintaining high safety and quality standards. This is not a general facilities‑maintenance position. Applicants must demonstrate directly relevant manufacturing, production‑line or packaging‑equipment experience.
