Alignerr is seeking mathematicians and formal methods experts to translate rigorous human-written arguments into Lean 4 proofs, remote and contract-based. The role targets those who enjoy precision and the beauty of formal verification.

We value experience with Lean (Lean 3/4) and related proof systems, and the ability to work independently on challenging problems while collaborating with AI research teams. This is a fully remote, hourly contract with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mathematics or closely related field.
• Strong proof-writing across algebra, analysis, topology, logic or discrete math.
• Hands-on experience with Lean (Lean 3/4), Coq, Isabelle/HOL, Agda; Lean 4 preferred.
• Deep enthusiasm for formal verification and proof assistants.
• Ability to translate dense informal arguments into clean formal proofs.

Responsibilities

• Translate informal proofs into Lean 4 proofs and related systems with clarity and correctness.
• Analyze proofs to identify gaps, hidden assumptions, and formalizable substructures.
• Construct formalizations that test the limits of proof assistants where tools struggle.
• Investigate why automated provers fail and document core reasons (lemmas, libraries).
• Collaborate with researchers to refine strategies for improving formal verification pipelines.
• Develop readable, reproducible proof scripts aligned with mathematical best practices.
