Ability West in Galway City seeks a Person in Charge/Service Manager to lead residential and short break services, ensuring HIQA standards and person-centred support. The role involves budget oversight, staffing, and driving continuous improvement within a values‑driven organisation.

The selected candidate must be CORU registered or in the process, with 3+ years of management experience in health or social care and a relevant Level 7+ degree.

Qualifications

• CORU registration or in the process of registration.
• Minimum 3 years' management/supervisory experience in health or social care.
• Level 7+ degree in Applied Social Studies, Intellectual Disability, Psychiatric Nursing, or related field, with current NMBI registration where applicable.
• Relevant management qualification.
• Proven experience managing a residential service in line with quality, regulatory and legislative standards.
• Demonstrated budget management experience.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Full, clean driving licence with access to a vehicle.
• Excellent working knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements.

Responsabilités

• Be responsible for the direction and running of the unit under the Area Services Manager.
• Ensure the people we support have a home-like atmosphere and that health and recreational needs are met.
• Establish relationships based on respect and equality to promote independence.
• Manage annual budget, staffing and expenditure within approved budgets.
• Coordinate administration and prescribed medication in line with policies.
• Prepare rosters and manage staff within budgets and skill mix.
• Lead staff development and supervision, and ensure training attendance.
