Job summary

Real is a global medical device company seeking a Lead Engineer/Scientist for our Research and Development team on a 12-month contract in Limerick, Ireland. The role focuses on leading the design of the embolic element of a drug-device combination product, with emphasis on hydrogel/ injectable formulations and PFS concepts.

The candidate will oversee a team, guide early-stage formulation strategies, and work primarily in Limerick with 2–3 days on-site per week, the remainder remote.

Qualifications

• Early-stage R&D formulation experience.
• Polymer background in chemistry or related field.
• Polymer characterization techniques experience.
• Injectables and sterile injectables experience.
• Pre-filled syringe (PFS) design requirements.
• Sustained release or hydrogel-based formulation design.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Desirable: Embolization product design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of the embolic design element of the project.
• Lead a team in the development of drug-device combination products with focus on the drug side.
• Drive early-stage R&D initiatives and formulation strategies for hydrogels, injectables, and PFS.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities to advance the project towards milestones.

Job description

A global medical device company are looking for a Lead Engineer / Scientist to join their Research and Development team on a contract basis. The purpose of the role is to lead the design of the embolic design element of the project. Leading a team in the development of drug-device combination products with a focus on the drug side. This is an early stage R&D role requiring formulation experience for hydrogels, injectables and pre filled syringes (PFS). You will need to have a polymer background and experience of laboratory methods.

The start date is for ASAP but we can wait for the right person's notice period. The initial contract length is for 12 months, with multiple options to extend after. The role is based in Limerick and will require 2-3 days onsite per week, the rest of the time you can work remotely.

The rate is €50-65 per hour, depending on experience, if you have any expenses please let me know and I can factor that into the rate for you.
