Job summary

Arcadis DPS Group in Dublin seeks a Lead Process Engineer to guide the process design team for pharmaceutical and life science projects across Ireland and Europe. Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience as a process engineer in design consultancy or pharma/Life Science manufacturing environments; must have led design processes.
• Proven ability to coordinate across disciplines, A&E teams, vendors, and system owners.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities; fluent English communication.
• Experience leading a process design team and delivering PFDs, P&IDs, and process deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Shape project success by scoping projects, delivering process engineering deliverables on time and within budget.
• Lead the implementation of process designs, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory standards are met.
• Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget with clear documentation and risk mitigation.
• Engage with clients to build relationships and identify new opportunities.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers to integrate process inputs.
• Uphold local and international codes and standards; drive safety and quality through PHAs/HAZOPs.

About the Role:

Arcadis DPS Group specializes in Project Management, Multi-Discipline Design, and Construction Management for Pharmaceutical and Life Science Buildings. Based in our Dublin office, you will play a key role as Lead Process Engineer, managing the process design team and delivering innovative solutions for diverse Pharmaceutical and Life Science projects across Ireland and Europe. Reporting to the Process Dept Manager, you will lead the development of production processes and drive plant improvements while providing technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape Project Success: Participate in proposal, pricing, and business development activities, including scoping new projects and defining process engineering deliverables in collaboration with clients and project teams, ensuring alignment with requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Lead with Expertise: Oversee and lead the implementation of process designs, taking full ownership for driving the entire process project to successful completion. Ensure all technical and safety aspects of deliverables (including PFDs, P&IDs, process reports, calculations, utility sizing, and equipment specifications) are delivered on time, within budget and schedule, and to the required quality standards. Manage technical approvals at project milestones and provide support to the process project team to achieve project objectives.
• Manage Change and Controls: Prepare, manage, and communicate process project change by assessing and implementing modifications to project scope, schedule, or budget; document all impacts, mitigate risks, and ensure project delivery commitments are maintained.
• Client Success: Engage with clients on process-related matters to build strong, collaborative professional relationships and support the development of future projects and opportunities.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, other Arcadis offices, clients/end users, and equipment suppliers to coordinate and integrate process inputs and deliverables throughout the design process.
• Uphold Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant local, international, and client-specific codes and standards.
• Drive Safety and Quality: Represent and lead process design in PHAs, HAZOPs, design reviews, and peer reviews while maintaining a strong focus on quality assurance.
• Innovate and Improve: Identify and implement process technologies and improvement techniques, encouraging an environment of continuous learning and development within the engineering team and supporting the consistent delivery of successful project outcomes.
• Empower Teams: Mentor, support, and inspire a diverse team of professionals to achieve project goals and personal growth.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Education: A higher technical degree in Industrial, Process, or Chemical Engineering.
• Leadership Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience as a process engineer in design consultancy or Food/Pharmaceuticals/GMP manufacturing environments, including experience as a Design Process Lead on projects.
• Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines, A&E teams, vendors, and system owners.
• Problem-Solving: Advanced decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities to tackle complex challenges.
• Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Tech‑Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office and process‑related software, with excellent Organisational and time‑management skills.
• Team Leadership: Ability to build, lead, develop, and inspire a team of professionals to reach their full potential.

Nice‑to‑Have:

• Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in process engineering within the pharmaceutical or life science industries, with the ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the global organisation.
• Process Safety Leadership: Proven expertise in process safety within the pharmaceutical or life science industries, with experience serving as a PHA/HAZOP chair.
