Job summary

Cadence Design Systems in Cork is seeking a Lead Application Engineer to engage with customers, lead schematic capture and PCB front-end flows, and drive product improvements across R&D and Marketing. You will deliver demos, training, and workshops while debugging complex design issues and creating self-help content for customers.

The role requires deep PCB design experience, Cadence tool expertise, and strong communication skills to interface with external customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of PCB design flows with Cadence Allegro and HDL/Orcad Capture.
• 7+ years of industry experience in Hardware Design Engineering or related roles.
• Translate customer requirements into EDA workflows and automation solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication with external customers and R&D teams.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand design challenges and propose technical solutions.
• Act as the primary technical interface for customers on schematic capture and PCB front-end flows.
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering and Marketing to drive product improvements.
• Consult with customers to understand innovative design needs and communicate with internal teams.
• Conduct technical demos, training sessions and workshops for customers and partners.
• Debug complex schematic design issues, netlisting problems, and library inconsistencies.
• Create high-impact knowledge articles, tool adoption kits, and self-help content for customers.
• Establish technical credibility and become the go-to expert for inquiries and support.
• Assume technical leadership roles in small teams as needed.
