Job summary

Arcadis Galway is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering mechanical design for water and wastewater projects. You will oversee option studies, detailed design, tender pricing and procurement specs while coordinating with clients and installation teams.

You will apply H&S, CDM regulations and sustainability standards, mentoring junior engineers and driving design delivery within a one-team culture.

Qualifications

Chartered membership is an advantage, while working towards incorporated or chartered status.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential.
Provide mentorship to junior/graduate mechanical design engineers.
Demonstrated leadership and decision-making experience in teams.
Water and wastewater design experience is highly desirable.
Commercial awareness and understanding of project economics beneficial.
Ability to work well in a team during project delivery.
Proactive problem solving and initiative in evolving design challenges.
Proficient with MS Office suite for design documentation.
Hold a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Design Manager.
Part of a multi-disciplined team delivering design outputs for water and wastewater plants.
Assist in all aspects of mechanical design from surveys to feasibility and detail design.
Produce procurement specifications, hydraulic calculations and detailed drawings.
Project manage third party designs and liaise with clients and subcontractors.
Support project delivery and maintain a one-team ethos.
Ensure design complies with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards.
Monitor delivery performance and update the MIDP as needed.
Produce mechanical design outputs as required.
Ensure clients' technical requirements are met throughout the design.
Participate in meetings to allocate resources and track progress.
