Job summary

MatchMedics seeks a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join a progressive community-based forensic mental health service in Ireland. The role combines clinical leadership, complex case management and long-term service development within a multidisciplinary team.

You will deliver specialist forensic assessments, develop risk management plans, and contribute to medico-legal reporting while driving governance and CPD initiatives in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council or eligibility.
• CCT, CESR or equivalent specialist qualification in Forensic Psychiatry.
• Experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in forensic mental health settings.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments.
• Develop treatment, recovery and risk management plans.
• Provide expert opinion on complex mental health and forensic cases.
• Deliver clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to medico-legal reporting and clinical documentation.
• Support clinical governance, audit and service development initiatives.
• Participate in consultant on-call arrangements.
• Promote evidence-based, recovery-focused and person-centred care.
