Job summary

GitLab, a fully remote company, seeks a Lead Legal Counsel, Employment, to advise on complex employment‑law matters across regions, including recruiting, compensation, performance, and separation. You will guide senior stakeholders, draft agreements, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an all‑remote, globally distributed environment.

You will mentor junior colleagues, coordinate with external counsel, and ensure GDPR and privacy compliance across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience advising multinational companies on employment matters across regions.
• Strong judgment to identify when local counsel is needed and how to apply their advice.
• Ability to independently manage high-volume, complex employment matters across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior employment-law advice to GitLab teams and leadership across jurisdictions.
• Draft and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, and policies across multiple regions.
• Oversee outside counsel, coordinate with People Partners, and ensure GDPR and privacy considerations are addressed.
• Develop scalable employment-law processes, templates, and playbooks for all-remote operations.
