Job summary

Bank of Ireland is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, delivery and optimisation of data solutions across central data platforms. You will mentor engineers, lead technical directions and shape governance, security and automation within a cloud-first data environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration in a hybrid Dublin-based setup, working with AWS, Cloudera, Spark, and streaming technologies to deliver scalable data platforms for the Bank's Digital and Customer strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and refinement of complex batch and real-time data solutions across the Bank's centralised data platforms, ensuring scalable and reliable outcomes.
• Deliver technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to Data Engineers, supporting agile delivery teams and helping to build a culture of engineering excellence.
• Drive guidelines across solution development, coding standards, testing, automation, governance, security, resilience and regulatory obligations.
• Champion creativity and ongoing improvement by advancing automation across the data delivery lifecycle. Demonstrate new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), and contribute to technology roadmaps and future engineering capabilities.
