Job summary

Eurofins MC Pathology in Sandyford, Dublin 18, is seeking a Laboratory Aide Histology to join our team. The role focuses on registration, labelling and sample preparation for medical laboratory testing, with training and development support provided.

Working hours are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will work under the supervision of the Chief Biomedical Scientist / Business Unit Manager in Histology, contributing to timely patient results while upholding Good Laboratory Practice.

Qualifications

• Leaving Cert or equivalent but science related diploma is desirable.
• Ideally 1 year in a similar role, but not mandatory (can be trained in-house).

Responsibilities

• Registration, labelling and sample preparation for samples referred to Eurofins Pathology for medical laboratory testing.
• Assist with the department’s daily tasks to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
• Maintain Good Laboratory Practice and keep work areas clean and well organized.

We are currently seeking to recruit aLaboratory Aideto join our team in our Histology Laboratory in Eurofins MC Pathology in Sandyford, Dublin 18. An organised professional, who enjoys solving issues to the very end, and looking to grow your experience in a laboratory/medical setting. Training and development support will be given to you to help your progression within the organisation.

This is a fixed term position for 2 years, with the possibility of an extension subject to business needs.

Reporting to the Chief Biomedical Scientist / Business Unit Manager in Histology the successful candidate will be responsible for registration, labelling and sample preparation for samples referred to Eurofins Pathology for medical laboratory testing.

Specific Tasks

• Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems in place in the laboratory.
• To be aware and to be compliant with of all the documentation related to your Department (Training record, SOP’s, Forms).
• Assist in completion of the department’s daily tasks, including work files, to a high standard to ensure patient results are delivered in a timely manner.
• Undertaking of accessioning and grossing clerical workload.
• Perform sample preparation and sample processing in a timely manner.
• Reagent preparation.
• Participate in the management of reagent and consumable stock levels.
• Assist with control of logbooks.
• Pre- and post-analytical storage of samples.
• Ensure all waste is adequately treated and disposed and that all waste is removed as required to the waste facilities
• Advise of any equipment failures or problems encountered in the course of carrying out his/her duties.
• Maintenance of instrumentation.
• Clean/disinfect working areas daily.
• Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practice.

Education

• Leaving Cert or equivalent but science related diploma is desirable

Experience
