Job summary

University of Galway is partnering with Sodexo Ltd to provide catering support across campus. You’ll help keep kitchens clean, assist chefs with prep, and ensure safe handling of deliveries and waste in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a background in kitchen/hospitality, a strong eye for cleanliness, and a team-oriented approach. Training is provided, and benefits accompany this role within Sodexo’s programmes.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• A good eye for cleanliness and hygiene.
• A team-first attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
• Reliability, flexibility and a positive approach to work.
• The ability to follow procedures and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Keep all kitchen areas, equipment, crockery and utensils clean, tidy and well-organised.
• Help chefs check, accept and correctly store incoming deliveries.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables safely and responsibly.
• Assist chefs with food preparation tasks when required.
• Support the smooth running of kitchen operations during busy service periods.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
• Work closely with the kitchen team and support colleagues where needed.
