Job summary

The Address Collective is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team in Sligo. You will maintain cleanliness, assist with food preparation and ensure all crockery, cutlery and utensils are cleaned, stored, and handled in line with our HACCP policy.

You will join a team committed to high standards of hygiene, safety and customer care, with responsibilities including daily cleaning, waste management, and adherence to company policies and training commitments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as Kitchen Assistant or Kitchen Porter.

Responsibilities

• Arrive promptly on duty in full, clean, presentable uniform.
• Maintain highest level of personal and work cleanliness and hygiene, adhere to HACCP requirements.
• Ensure uniform and personal hygiene standards are carried out in the kitchen at all times.
• Ensure all cleaning schedules are adhered to, hygiene checked daily.
• Comply with Fire, Health and Safety, Hygiene, Food Hygiene, Customer Care and Security policies.
• Wash, dry, polish and store crockery, cutlery and glassware properly.
• Carry out cleaning duties as outlined in the kitchen-cleaning schedule.
• Empty bins when full.
• Be aware of hazardous substances; wear protective clothing and follow directions.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic and hazard-free work area.
• Cooperate with delivery intake of produce.
• Read and follow Health and Safety statements and Staff Handbook.
• All staff to be available for training and meetings with notice.

Responsible to: Head Chef and/or Management

Responsible for: To ensure that all crockery, cutlery & kitchen utensils are stored and maintained correctly and to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and delivery areas in accordance with company policy and HACCP regulations.

Minimum of 1 year experience as Kitchen Assistant or Kitchen Porter.

Main Duties

• To arrive promptly on duty as scheduled in a full, clean & presentable uniform at all times in accordance with company grooming policy.
• Maintain the highest level of personal and work cleanliness and hygiene, and throughout all duties comply with HACCP requirements.
• To ensure that the agreed standard of uniform and personal hygiene is carried out in the kitchen at all times.
• To ensure all cleaning schedules are adhered to, and hygiene is checked daily.
• To comply with company legislations regarding Fire, Health and Safety, Hygiene, Food Hygiene, Customer Care and Security.
• To ensure all items of crockery, cutlery and glassware are washed, dried, polished and stored properly.
• To carry out cleaning duties as outlined in the kitchen-cleaning schedule.
• To empty bins when full.
• To be aware of any hazardous substances and to ensure that relevant protective clothing is worn and that the directions are followed.
• To attend training sessions and meetings as required.
• To ensure that your area of responsibility is maintained in a safe, hygienic, healthy and hazard-free manner and environment.
• To comply with the delivery intake of produce.
• To comply with company regulations regarding fire, health and safety, hygiene, customer care and security. Adhere to the company's Code of Conduct.
• To read, understand and carry out your responsibilities as defined in the Health and Safety Statement and Staff Handbook.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe and tidy at all times.
• Report any maintenance issues immediately to management,
• All staff of the company are required to make themselves available for training and communication meetings, for which advance notice will normally be given.
