Job summary

Nua Healthcare Services in Meelin, Co. Cork, Ireland is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The role involves preparing, plating and serving patient meals, ensuring HACCP guidelines, and supporting the MDT with portering and general duties.

You should have about 1 year of similar experience, strong organisational and communication skills, empathy, and a proactive, reliable approach in a healthcare setting. Training will be provided and working hours include a 7-day roster.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Co-operate with employer and comply with Health Act 2007, Mental Health Act 2001, Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and related standards.
  • Adhere to all company policies and GDPR guidelines.
  • Report safety concerns to line manager.
  • Act responsibly and cooperate with regulators for service quality.
  • Maintain dignity, courtesy and professionalism with patients and families.
  • Assist in delivering a quality service and follow national/local policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain hygiene in the workplace and follow schedules.
  • Carry out assigned duties involving direct care and activities of daily living.
  • Work as part of MDT providing portering and general operative support; assist in meal preparation and serving.

Job Summary

We are seeking applications from energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for the above positions. The successful candidate will be afforded all necessary training and development in line with the role.

Job Objectives

We are seeking applications for the role of a Kitchen Assistant.

This Will Include The Following On a Day-to-day Basis
  • To co-operate with your employer and to comply with your responsibilities under the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice in so far as is reasonable and practicable.
  • To be familiar with and to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • To use company IT systems as instructed and to never share your passwords with another or do anything likely to result in the unutilised disclosure of and or personal data as defined under the General Data Protects Regulations (GDPR).
  • To report any concerns for the safety of our service users and patients to your line manager and or other manager within Nua for appropriate address in-line with company policy.
  • To act responsibly, at all-times, and to co-operate with our regulators in the very best interests of our service and the people who use them.
  • Respect patients and their families showing dignity, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist in the provision of a quality service and work in line with national and locally devised policies and regulations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information made available to him / her during the course of his / her work.
  • Maintain a strict code of personal and general hygiene in the workplace as per work schedules and existing policies and procedures.
  • Carry out assigned and delegated responsibilities involving direct care and all activities of daily living under supervision.
  • Work as an active member of the Multidisciplinary Team, providing portering and general operative support to patients, goods, and services. Areas such as nursing, therapy and household areas are part of the delivery of programmes to patients to ensure quality patient centred care and services.
  • When directed be responsible for the preparation, plating and serving of food and patient meals in line with national and local policies and standards.
  • Preparing, plating and serving patient meals.
  • Ensuring that all HACCP guidelines are followed at all times.
  • When directed to do so collection of cutlery, crockery, and glassware from patient areas.
  • Report any equipment faults to person in charge and ensure all equipment is stored correctly.
