Job summary

Axis Environmental Services is seeking a Trainee Field Services Technician to join our growing Field Team in Limerick. This field-based role offers structured training and hands-on experience across environmental monitoring, sampling, and related field services.

Based from the Limerick office with nationwide travel, you will learn from experienced technicians and develop skills in water sampling, noise and air monitoring, and equipment maintenance, with clear progression to senior technician and

Qualifications

• Full driving licence valid for Ireland.
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
• Good communication, numeracy and basic computer skills.
• Interest in environmental monitoring and field work.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including occasional early starts and overnight stays.
• Comfortable working outdoors and carrying out practical tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently following training and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites across Ireland to support monitoring projects.
• Assist with environmental noise surveys and occupational air and noise monitoring.
• Collect groundwater, surface water, stormwater and wastewater samples.
• Install, service and retrieve ambient air and dust monitoring equipment.
• Support Legionella sampling and other specialist environmental monitoring activities.
• Assist with bund integrity testing and environmental field investigations.
• Prepare monitoring equipment, sample containers and project documentation.
• Label, preserve, store and transport samples in accordance with company procedures.
• Complete field sheets, chain‑of‑custody forms, photographs and electronic records accurately.
• Enter and check monitoring data and assist with factual reporting.
• Carry out equipment checks, maintenance and calibrations following training.
• Work safely in accordance with site rules, risk assessments and company procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
