Job summary

O'Hehirs is hiring a full-time Junior Deli Assistant for our cafe in ATU Galway, Monivea Road. This term-time role offers weekends and holidays off, supporting the Senior Deli Assistant while welcoming students and staff.

You will work a 7.30am–4pm shift (30–40 hours weekly), join a small team, keep areas clean, and help with breakfast and lunch items. Prior deli or customer-facing experience is an advantage, but a friendly attitude matters most.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a deli or customer-facing role is an advantage, but not essential.
• Friendly, approachable personality with a passion for customer service.
• Enjoys working as part of a team with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operating the till and end-of-day cashing-up procedures.
• Preparing a selection of breakfast items and assisting with lunch with food from main kitchen.
• Keeping the work area clean, organised, and welcoming.
• Support colleagues in wash-up area during busy periods.
• Help welcome and train new team members.

The Role

Full Time: Min 35 hours p.w

Working hours: 30-40 hous P.W - This role works term time only, with weekends, bank holidays & college closed time off

Shift times: 7.30am- 4pm, this may vary slightly

Key Responsibilities

• Operating the till and complete end-of-day cashing-up procedures
• Confident in preparing a selection of breakfast items and assisting with lunch preparation using food supplied by our main kitchen
• Keeping your work area clean, organised, and welcoming throughout the day
• Working as part of a small team, supporting colleagues in wash-up area during busy periods when required
• Help welcome and train new team members, sharing your knowledge and supporting them as they settle into their role.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a deli or similar customer-facing role is an advantage, but not essential. If you've worked in a similar role full-time for six months or more, we'd love to hear from you
• A friendly, approachable personality with a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service
• Someone who enjoys working as part of a team and brings a positive, enthusiastic attitude to work every day
• An interest in developing a career in hospitality and a willingness to learn and grow.
