Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a motivated Junior Buyer in Cork to support live construction projects. You will assist with sourcing, issue purchase orders, monitor deliveries and process supplier invoices under the Purchasing Manager.

A hands-on role that builds procurement experience within a well-established client. The position offers a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for longer-term opportunity for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing and procurement is desirable.
• Experience in construction or building materials background is an advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and office systems.
• Strong numerical, organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Confident communication with suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sourcing materials, plant and services for construction projects.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations to support purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and process purchase orders in line with approval procedures.
• Monitor orders, long-lead items and scheduled deliveries.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, order documentation and trackers.
• Liaise with project and site teams to understand purchasing requirements.
• Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Match invoices against purchase orders, delivery dockets and pricing.
• Follow up on outstanding approvals, credits and supporting documentation.
• Assist with resolving delivery issues, shortages, returns and credit notes
• Maintain accurate supplier, purchase order and invoice records.
• Ensure purchasing procedures and approval processes are followed
