Job summary

Kingspan Water and Energy is seeking a motivated Junior AI Application & Agent Specialist to drive digital innovation on-site at Dunaree, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, Ireland.

The role focuses on building AI-enabled applications, automations and intelligent workflows that deliver real business value. Ideal candidates are early in their careers with a passion for AI, software development and translating business needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, or related field.
• Strong interest in software development, AI and emerging technology.
• Ability to translate business problems into structured requirements.
• Experience with AI tools, prompt engineering or automation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to understand operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate discovery sessions to capture requirements and user needs.
• Map processes and design future-state solutions.
• Translate requirements into user stories and specs.
• Develop applications, automations and integrations using approved technologies and AI-assisted tools.
• Design, configure and support AI agents and intelligent workflows.
• Review and test AI-generated code for quality and security.
• Produce proofs of value and gather user feedback for iterative improvements.
• Conduct functional and user acceptance testing; document results.
• Provide high-quality documentation and handover information.
• Support production readiness, deployment and monitoring.

We're looking for a motivated and tech-savvy Junior AI Application & Agent Specialist to help drive digital innovation across our business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about AI, software development and solving real business challenges through technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to understand operational challenges, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate discovery sessions to capture business requirements and user needs.
• Map existing processes and help design more efficient future-state solutions.
• Translate business requirements into user stories, functional specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Develop applications, automations and integrations using approved technologies and AI-assisted development tools.
• Design, configure and support AI agents and intelligent workflows that deliver practical business outcomes.
• Review, test and validate AI-generated code to ensure quality, security and maintainability.
• Create proofs of value, demonstrate solutions to users, gather structured feedback and improve solutions through iterative development.
• Conduct functional testing, user acceptance testing and AI evaluation exercises.
• Produce high-quality documentation including user guidance, support guides and handover information.
• Support production readiness, deployment, monitoring and transition into operational ownership.
• Ensure all solutions comply with cybersecurity, governance, privacy and responsible AI standards.
• Monitor deployed solutions, gather user feedback and continuously improve performance, adoption and business value.

What we're looking for

• Degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Digital Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in software development, AI and emerging technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written documentation and communication skills.
• Confidence working with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Ability to learn quickly, experiment within guardrails and recognise when specialist help is required
• Ability to understand a business problem and translate it into structured requirements
• Ability or willingness to use AI coding tools effectively and responsibly
• Experience with Azure, AWS, Power Platform, Copilot Studio or comparable platforms.
• Knowledge of APIs, SQL, Git or modern development frameworks.
• Exposure to AI tools, prompt engineering or automation technologies.
• Experience gained through internships, placements, university projects, personal projects or a development portfolio.

Candidates are not expected to already be an expert in all of these technologies. The role is designed to develop capability through supervised delivery of real business solutions.
