Job summary

Grant Thornton Ireland invites applications for an Interim Head of Legal & Data Protection (Maternity Cover). Lead the Legal and Data Protection functions, ensuring continuity of live litigation and complaints, and directing the DP team.

You will engage senior stakeholders across the Risk function, oversee DPIAs and data transfer assessments, and contribute to EU AI Act readiness and DP governance. Irish-qualified solicitor with 10+ PQE preferred.

Qualifications

• Senior solicitor with 10+ PQE and Irish qualification.
• Strong litigation and complaints experience in a regulated environment.
• Significant data protection experience essential.
• Commercial contracts literacy to backstop the contracts team.

Responsibilities

• Own and progress all live litigation matters and firm complaints, including settlement strategy.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the Data Protection team and oversee DP workstreams.
• Represent the DP function at senior Risk forums and coordinate cross-team projects.
• Lead, support and develop the Legal and Data Protection teams.
