Contract: Permanent, Full time
Location: Dublin/Kilkenny (Hybrid)
Vhi Group Services DAC is currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Integration Lead position based in Dublin or Kilkenny.
The Integration Lead is accountable for the leadership, performance and continuous development of Vhi's enterprise integration capability across project, programme and BAU demand. Working closely with the Integration Architect and Principal Developer, the role translates approved strategy, architecture and prioritised demand into executable integration work plans and high-quality engineering outcomes.
The role provides technical and people leadership for an integration estate using technologies including AWS API Gateway, Kong and Broadcom Layer7, and drives a secure, observable, scalable and reusable API-led integration capability. The Integration Lead is accountable for delivery of the integration work package and service commitments to Enterprise Change projects.
What will you do:
Capability leadership and governance
- Lead and develop the enterprise integration capability, team operating model, service roadmap and engineering improvement plan.
- Maintain integration policies, standards and governance with Architecture, Engineering, Cyber Security and Service Management, ensuring clear decision rights and adoption.
- Build effective relationships across business, technology, Change Delivery and suppliers, with transparent ownership of actions, risks and decisions.
Delivery, demand and capacity
- Own delivery of integration work packages and BAU commitments, including estimates, plans, dependencies, risks, quality evidence and operational readiness.
- Maintain a transparent demand pipeline and provide evidence-based feasibility, sequencing, resource and cost forecasts through the appropriate portfolio and delivery governance.
- Lead capacity, resource and skills planning, escalating constraints, trade-offs and forecast slippage early to accountable delivery and governance roles.
Technical assurance and service resilience
- Maintain sufficient technical depth to review and challenge integration designs, API specifications, non-functional requirements, security controls, test evidence and deployment artefacts.
- Work with the Integration Architect and Principal Developer while preserving their accountability for architecture decisions and engineering quality.
- Own integration service performance, observability and operational health, covering capacity, availability, resilience, recoverability and supportability.
- Ensure production readiness, support arrangements, monitoring, runbooks, disaster recovery evidence and technical risk controls are in place before release.
Supplier, improvement and people leadership
- Manage supplier commitments, service levels, engineering quality and value for money, escalating material issues through commercial and delivery governance.
- Use service, delivery and engineering evidence to address recurring issues, reduce lead times and improve quality and resilience.
- Lead, coach and develop the Integration Team through clear objectives, feedback, performance management, professional development and succession planning
What you need to be successful:

- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Significant experience in integration, software, data or cloud technology roles, including technical leadership across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of integration patterns, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, API management, security and non-functional design.
- Strong understanding of delivery governance, demand and capacity management, service transition, operational controls and the respective accountabilities of capability teams and project or programme leadership.
- Understanding of security, risk, audit and operational control requirements within healthcare, insurance, financial services or another regulated industry.
Skills and abilities:
Technical
- Strong practical knowledge of API management and gateway platforms.
- Deep understanding of API lifecycle management, interface design, documentation, versioning and deprecation.
- Strong knowledge of integration architecture and engineering patterns, cloud-native architecture and distributed systems.
- Ability to review and challenge API and integration security designs, threat controls, testing strategies and quality evidence.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and cloud-native delivery practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, source control, environment promotion and safe release or rollback strategies.
- Ability to assess non-functional requirements and evidence for performance, scalability, availability, observability, resilience, disaster recovery and operational supportability.
- Strong planning, demand, capacity, risk, supplier and service-performance management skills, applied at integration capability and work-package level.
Interpersonal
- Confident communicator who can explain complex integration issues, delivery choices and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and constructively challenge decisions at all levels.
- Collaborative leader who establishes clear accountability across Architecture, Engineering, Change Delivery, Operations, suppliers and programmes without diluting individual ownership.
- Able to influence prioritisation through evidence, manage competing demands transparently and elevate decisions through the appropriate governance route.
- Calm and decisive in complex delivery or operational situations, with a strong focus on outcomes, controls and sustainable solutions.
