Compensation and Benefits

Salary: €36,000.00 – €49,500.00

Location: Leixlip, Ireland

As a Field Service Engineer you will act as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain and upgrade equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform independently installation tasks (mechanical assembly, electrical connections, robot calibrations) from integration to inspection of the tools, including troubleshooting when issues arise.
  • Follow all checklists and procedures, ensuring correct schematics and documentation are available before work.
  • Test equipment with assistance from senior engineers, existing documentation and diagnostic techniques.
  • Respond to factory issues through communication with other engineers and participation in escalation conference calls.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce installation cycle time and costs.
  • Provide accurate reporting of status, hours worked and non‑conformances.
  • Adhere to the security policy and quality standards of Applied Materials and its customers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a technical background (mechanical assembly, equipment installation, maintenance, mechatronics, electronics, electrical, mechanical or similar).
  • The position is open to junior profiles.
  • Troubleshooting skills to solve mechanical and electrical issues during system installation.
  • Ability to communicate daily pass‑downs and equipment status reports.
  • Project management skills to control installation projects within budget, timeline and quality requirements.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • The position requires extensive travelling throughout Europe (approximately 75% of the time, depending on overall activity requirements).
Physical Requirements

The role often requires extensive walking, standing for long periods, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, working at height, lifting up to 35 lbs., distinguishing between colors, working with electricity, and working in environments with potentially difficult noise levels. The position generally involves working in a clean room and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors, including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity considerations.
