An Injection Moulding Engineer is required for our client, a medical device manufacturing company based in Waterford. The role will support the development and implementation of production methods and controls for new and existing moulding processes to meet quality standards efficiently. The successful candidate will monitor moulding processes, troubleshoot issues and support the resolution of quality problems.
Responsibilities:
- Introduce new tools, including trials at toolmakers and in-house, tool set-up, qualification runs and handover to production.
- Assist with the design and debugging of new systems, tooling and automation.
- Complete IQ, OQ and PQ validation reports.
- Perform designed experiments to enhance processes, improve yields and utilisation, reduce cycle times and optimise set-ups.
- Act as a key contact for customers, suppliers and toolmakers.
- Maintain moulding process systems, including setting sheets, process controls and deviation management.
- Troubleshoot moulding processes and provide technical support to production team leaders.
- Liaise daily with tooling, maintenance, production and quality teams.
- Develop and implement maintenance programmes for moulding and ancillary equipment.
- Support production teams in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Support company safety and quality programmes and initiatives.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in all activities and records of events and processes.
- Apply learning from GMP training to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the department and role.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Polymer or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Min 3 years’ experience in a high-volume moulding environment.
- Experience in cleanroom procedures and medical moulding.
- Familiarity with process set-up and validation, including process window studies and IQ, OQ and PQ, is highly desirable.
- Lean Six Sigma skills are an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project.
- SIM/RJG process set-up experience is an advantage.
