Job summary

Mount Carmel Community Hospital is seeking an Infection Prevention Control Clinical Nurse Manager to lead and oversee IPC on the ward. The postholder will work with the DON/ADON as part of the Mount Carmel management team to promote high nursing care standards and strong infection prevention practices.

The role emphasizes service planning, resource management, staff development, and professional leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety.

Qualifications

• First level registration.
• Recognised Infection Control qualification.
• Demonstratable experience as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse.
• Previous managerial training/experience, an advantage.
• Registered on the NMBI live register.
• Excellent Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills.
• Sound decision making ability.
• Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
• Ability to work well and promote a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention and control on the designated ward.
• Monitor and evaluate quality and compliance with standards and regulations.
• Manage data collection/analysis for infection control programs.
• Provide support services for hospital-wide infection control.
• Identify infectious disease processes and respond appropriately.
• Survey and investigate epidemiologic events; use evidence-based practice to prevent transmission.
• Maintain Employee Health and Safety compliance and train staff on new policies.
• Organise staff training and ensure policy updates are implemented.
