Job summary

Jones Engineering in Cork is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to maintain and repair mechanical equipment in a manufacturing setting. The role focuses on ensuring safe and reliable operation of pumps, boilers, HVAC, and ancillary systems.

You will perform routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, document activities, and support upgrades, with some weekend shifts and potential transition to a shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Time served in engineering degree/diploma or Solas MAMF Level 6 or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a mechanical maintenance technician.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, valves and piping systems.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints.
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on pumps, compressors, boilers, HVAC and utilities.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering and production for upgrades and modifications.
• Document work orders, equipment logs and maintenance reports.
• Participate in safety programs and follow protocols.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and support training needs.
• Flexibility to work weekends/holidays; may transition to shift role.
