Job summary

Our client in Galway is seeking a reliable maintenance fitter to join the expanding team at Cornamona. The full-time role consists of 4 shifts Mon to Fri plus one Saturday shift, with plant downtime twice yearly requiring availability.

Minimum Level 6 in Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting (or similar) and at least 2 years’ experience are required. Proficiency with lathe/mill, welding (MIG/TIG/Stick), oxy-acetylene, and basic electrical/plumbing knowledge is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 6 in Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar industry.
• Ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs on industrial machinery.
• Proficient in welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and basic fabrication.
• Knowledge of electrical and plumbing basics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical fixes on machinery including bearing, chain, sprocket and drive components.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and perform repairs or workarounds as needed.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
• Maintain safe and tidy work area and comply with safety systems.
• Support during plant shutdowns and on-site maintenance tasks.
