Job summary

TTM Healthcare is partnering with a client in Cork City to recruit a part-time Literacy Tutor for a temporary role. The position offers an initial 3-month contract with a potential extension, hours 9/9:30 to 4pm, and a salary of €24.57 per hour.

The role focuses on delivering literacy, numeracy, workplace and everyday skills to people with mild intellectual disabilities, with 1:1 and group support and administration tasks including Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching, training, education or learning support.
• Experience with people with intellectual disabilities or additional support needs.
• Experience supporting learners with literacy and/or numeracy difficulties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, empathetic and person-centred approach.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with good organisation.
• Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Adapt communication and learning approaches to individuals.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and group-based learning and skills support.
• Support individuals with reading, writing and basic numeracy.
• Teach practical skills such as reading bus timetables, workplace signage and common workplace terminology.
• Support with CV development and completing forms.
• Develop money recognition and basic calculation skills.
• Support individuals to develop workplace readiness and independence.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
• Maintain accurate records and complete relevant administrative duties.
• Use Microsoft Excel for basic recording and administrative tasks.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to support individual development.
