Job summary

SMBC Group in Tralee, Ireland is seeking an Identity & Access Management Engineer to join our IAM Engineering team. You will support the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of enterprise identity services focused on Microsoft Entra ID, Identity Governance, and SSO.

Working with application, infrastructure and security teams, you will enable secure access, automate IAM processes with PowerShell, and contribute to governance, incident resolution, and documentation within a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT/CS/Cyber Security or related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in IAM, information security, or cloud/infra environments.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD and identity technologies.
• Experience configuring SSO and protocols like SAML, OAuth 2.0, or OpenID Connect.

Responsibilities

• Support administration and improvement of Microsoft Entra ID and Identity Governance.
• Configure and support SSO integrations using SAML, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Assist with application onboarding including access packages and entitlement management.
• Design secure cloud IAM solutions and governance.
• Develop PowerShell automation to streamline IAM tasks.
• Troubleshoot IAM incidents and access issues across teams.
• Provide guidance to application and tech teams on IAM integrations.
• Maintain documentation and knowledge base.

• This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend our Tralee office at least three (3) days in a work week.
• Normal support day is 7.5 hours, which run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday–Friday)
• Occasional planned Saturday work to support with outside teams’ projects and on-call coverage during Irish bank holidays may be required to support global operations, rotated between the team.

Role Description

SMBC is seeking an Identity & Access Management Engineer to join our Identity and Access Management Engineering team.

This role will support the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of enterprise identity services with a particular focus on Microsoft Entra ID, Identity Governance, Single Sign-On and automation.

You will work closely with application, infrastructure and security teams to deliver secure access solutions while supporting application integrations, access governance and the automation of IAM processes.

This role reports to the Security Solutions Engineering Team Lead.

• Support the administration, configuration and continuous improvement of Microsoft Entra ID and Identity Governance services.
• Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations using SAML, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Support application onboarding including access packages, entitlement management, security groups and identity lifecycle processes.
• Design and support secure cloud-based identity and access management solutions.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to improve IAM processes and reduce manual activity.
• Troubleshoot IAM incidents, service requests and application access issues.
• Support application and technology teams with IAM integrations and technical guidance.
• Review IAM processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardisation and improvement.
• Use SQL and application data to support troubleshooting, reporting and integration activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures and knowledge articles.
• Support access governance and ensure IAM services operate in line with security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3+ years’ relevant experience across IAM, Information Security, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering or a related technical environment.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure Active Directory and identity technologies.
• Good understanding of IAM concepts including authentication, authorisation, identity lifecycle management and access governance.
• Experience configuring or supporting SSO and authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting or automation.
• Understanding of security groups, role-based access control (RBAC) and access governance.
• Understanding of APIs and application integration concepts with working knowledge of SQL.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

It would be an advantage if you have:

• Experience with Identity Governance and Administration platforms.
• Knowledge of MFA, Privileged Access Management and access reviews.
• Experience using ServiceNow or a similar IT Service Management platform.
• Experience within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Exposure to workflow automation and process improvement.
