As an ICT Design Engineer you will be part of a global engineering team comprised of highly effective Architects, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Engineers. AWS self‑performs engineering on the majority of our capacity delivery projects. Our ICT Design and Engineering Team is a new fast‑growing and leading‑edge engineering team that is rethinking the design for the critical communications pathways that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS’ data centers.
As part of this team you will work directly with engineers and managers across the company to develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer. You will work with the rest of the design team to provide pathway and cabling designs and specifications for construction and operation and finally with industry suppliers and manufacturers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies.
As an ICT Design Engineer, you’ll design scalable connectivity solutions for our data center infrastructure. Your day involves collaborating with architects, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and control engineers across AWS to develop pathway and cabling designs. You’ll review technical submittals, coordinate with industry suppliers to evaluate new technologies, and travel to data center sites to review projects and work with onsite teams. You’ll prioritize activities that support data center capacity and safety while working on both local and global initiatives, solving complex infrastructure challenges that directly impact customers’ ability to access cloud services.
