Job summary

National Vehicle Distribution is seeking a Hydraulic Technician to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair complex multi-deck hydraulic lifting and loading systems on car-transporting vehicles. This role ensures safety and efficiency across our fleet.

The ideal candidate will have a vocational mechanical engineering qualification, 2–3 years of heavy hydraulics experience, and hands-on abilities with hydraulic gauges, welding, and vehicle electronics.

Qualifications

  • Mastery of hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
  • Expertise in high-pressure fluid systems.
  • Proficiency using hydraulic pressure gauges.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle electronics.
  • Vocational qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 2–3 years handling heavy hydraulics.
  • Direct experience with multi-deck car hauliers (e.g., Rolfo Belle, Kassborrher Lohr, Transporter Engineering).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics & Repairs.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic system failures.
  • Repair leaking cylinders and rams.
  • Replace damaged high-pressure hoses.
  • Fix faulty control valves.
  • Diagnose Power Take-Off (PTO) issues.
  • Routine Maintenance.
  • Conduct scheduled hydraulic safety inspections.
  • Flush and replace hydraulic fluids.
  • Clean and change system filters.
  • Lubricate moving mechanical joints.
  • Calibrate deck pressure settings.
  • Safety & Compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with lifting regulations.
  • Test emergency stop mechanisms.
  • Verify load-holding check valves work.
  • Maintain accurate service repair logs.

  • Full Time - 06:00 to 14:30 (13:30 Friday) and 09:30 to 18:00 (17:00 Friday)

Job Summary
