Job summary

Optum is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to build scalable data sources and pipelines for our data platform (Snowflake) and related applications (Azure, Airflow). You will collaborate with data, architecture, and BI teams to align requirements and deliver robust data solutions.

The role supports a hybrid model in Ireland with options to split time between Dublin or Letterkenny offices and telecommute from home.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Database Management, IT, CS, or related field.
• Proven hands-on experience as a Data Engineer.
• Proficiency in SQL with window functions and advanced capabilities.
• Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, data architecture, and masking.
• Proficient in Python.
• Experience building data pipelines with Snowflake and complex SQL queries.
• Experience with Python, Scala, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience CI/CD pipelines using Git/GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Snowflake Cortex).

Responsibilities

• Integrate data from multiple on-prem and cloud sources for unified analytics.
• Develop data transformation routines for cleaning, normalizing, and aggregating data.
• Implement data masking in line with standards.
• Create monitoring tools to automate error handling and ensure data integrity.
• Use data quality tools to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Build and monitor data pipelines using Airflow and Snowflake as core tools.
• Design SQL stored procedures to fulfill use cases.
• Create logical and physical data models for data integrity.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation using Git and GitHub Actions.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve development productivity and data quality.
