Job summary

Optum, a global health care leader, is seeking a data engineer for the Pharmacy Reimbursement Analytics team in Ireland. You will manage data pipelines, build analytical datasets, and ensure data quality to support financial analytics and contracting strategy.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Analytics and Enterprise Data Engineering, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled analytics while enabling hybrid work between Dublin and home offices across Ireland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Analytics/CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience using SQL, Databricks, Python, or similar technologies to work with large and complex datasets.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience building, maintaining and validating analytical datasets, reporting solutions or data pipelines.
• Translating complex data into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data quality, governance and control processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and enhance data pipelines for pharmacy reimbursement analytics, network pricing, and financial reporting
• Develop and support analytical datasets used for modelling, performance measurement, and strategic decision‑making
• Perform data validation, quality assurance, and governance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reporting and analytics outputs
• Analyse pharmacy claims, pricing, and contract data to identify trends, reimbursement variances, and drivers of financial performance
• Support the design and maintenance of analytical models and reporting solutions used by Contracting, Underwriting, Finance, and Operations teams
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data and reporting solutions
• Collaborate with enterprise data engineering teams to improve automation, efficiency, and alignment with organizational data standards
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the adoption of modern data tools, including AI‑enabled analytics capabilities
