Job description

Optum is a global organization that delivers care, aided by technology to help millions of people live healthier lives. The work you do with our team will directly improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data and resources they need to feel their best. Here, you will find a culture guided by diversity and inclusion, talented peers, comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities. Come make an impact on the communities we serve as you help us advance health equity on a global scale. Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

As a Fortune 5 business, we're one of the world's leading healthcare companies. There are no limits here on the resources you'll have or the challenges you'll encounter. We have been supporting global healthcare systems from Ireland and the UK for more than 20 years, building a dynamic and diverse team of more than 2,100 talented individuals. With a continued record of growth and stability, we're on the constant lookout for fresh talent to join our expanding teams.

As a member of the Pharmacy Reimbursement Analytics team, you will provide advanced financial analytics, modelling and strategic insight to support the Optum Rx Network Pricing function. This role is focused on understanding pharmacy reimbursement performance, network pharmacy economics and the financial drivers that influence client and business results.

The team analyses large and complex pharmacy claims, pricing and contract data to understand how reimbursement arrangements perform in practice, quantify financial impact, and develop insights that inform broader contracting strategy, client financial positioning and operational decision‑making. The work has direct relevance to Optum Rx's clients, pharmacy partners and broader business performance.

Principal duties include building analytical models, investigating reimbursement and pricing trends, forecasting financial outcomes, identifying key drivers of performance, and translating complex data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and cross‑functional partners. Additional duties may include supporting process improvement, data stewardship, automation, reporting transformation and the practical adoption of data tools and AI‑enabled analytics capabilities.

We're looking for someone with a solid quantitative mindset, curiosity about complex business problems, the ability to work confidently with detailed data, and the communication skills to turn analysis into practical recommendations that can influence strategy and execution.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home‑based office in a hybrid work model.

What you will do:
  • Provide analytics support for pharmacy reimbursement strategy, network pricing initiatives and client financial outcomes
  • Analyse large pharmacy claims, pricing and contract datasets to identify financial drivers, reimbursement variance, emerging trends and opportunities to improve business performance
  • Build, maintain and quality‑check analytical models, datasets and reporting outputs used to support contracting, underwriting, finance and operational decisions
  • Translate complex pricing and reimbursement analysis into clear insights, recommendations and business narratives for stakeholders across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Partner with Network Contracting, Underwriting, Finance, Operations and other internal teams to support effective decision‑making and implementation of solutions
  • Support process improvement, data stewardship, automation and adoption of modern data tools, including AI‑enabled analytics where appropriate

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience using SQL, Databricks, Python, or similar technologies to analyze large and complex datasets, including querying across multiple tables, joins, and subqueries
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven experience in financial modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, or translating data into actionable business recommendations
Other useful skills and experience:
  • Proven experience within healthcare, insurance, financial services, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), pharmacy, pharmaceutical, pricing, or reimbursement analytics environments
  • Proven experience in finance, consulting, strategic advisory, contracting analytics, client analytics, or commercial decision support roles
Soft Skills:
  • Demonstrated solid analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Demonstrated solid communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple levels and disciplines

Please note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the country to which you are making an application. Proof will be required to support your application.
