Job summary

Ward & Burke is seeking an experienced HSQES Advisor to join our Head Office in Kilcolgan, Galway. This role focuses on Health, Safety, Quality, Environment and sustainability across pre-construction and project delivery stages of major infrastructure works.

You will support tendering, review documentation, develop project-specific HSQE responses, and mentor teams while maintaining current legislation knowledge.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 7 qualification, or equivalent, in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5 years’ relevant professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation.
• Experience interpreting technical, tender or project documentation.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Competency in Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint.
• A proactive approach and an interest in developing their knowledge and taking on broader responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Pre-Construction and Tendering teams in preparing the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality elements of PQQs and tender submissions.
• Review project and tender documentation to identify job-specific HSQE requirements, risks and client expectations.
• Develop clear, project-specific responses that align with company procedures and tender requirements.
• Work collaboratively with Construction and Technical teams to identify key project requirements and constraints and contribute to successful project delivery.
• Attend site visits for prospective and current projects as required.
• Review and develop existing HSQE processes and procedures, ensuring they remain aligned with current legislation and requirements.
• Support and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting good HSQE practices across the business.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant environmental, health and safety legislation.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the company’s sustainability procedures and reporting.
• Produce high-quality written reports, submissions and supporting documentation.
