Job summary

NexVentur seeks an experienced HSE Manager to lead day-to-day health, safety and environmental activities on a major renewable energy construction project in Athlone/Midlands. You will ensure safety and compliance across all site activities, coordinating with clients and authorities as required.

The role requires a relevant HSE qualification, a minimum of 5 years' experience in Irish construction, and strong knowledge of Irish legislation, RAMS, and environmental controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' HSE experience within Irish construction.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
• Experience preparing and implementing HSE Plans, CEMP and environmental plans.
• Experience managing RAMS, risk assessments, permits to work and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update the Project HSE Plan and related documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Irish legislation, planning conditions, licences and client requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety/environmental reviews.
• Review RAMS, risk assessments, permits to work and training records.
• Coordinate inductions, toolbox talks and HSE/environmental training.
• Maintain the training matrix and ensure HSE delivery on site.
• Monitor controls for traffic, waste, pollution prevention and ecology.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Provide practical HSE guidance to Site and Project teams.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, authorities and other bodies.
• Identify and resolve significant HSE issues and non-compliances.
• Promote a strong safety-first culture across the project.

About the Role

NexVentur is currently recruiting for an experienced HSE Manager to join a project delivery team working on a major renewable energy construction project in the Athlone / Midlands area.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements on site, ensuring that all construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in compliance with Irish legislation, planning conditions and project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to take on a key position within a large-scale renewable energy project.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and continually update the Project HSE Plan, CEMP, Environmental Management Plan, Traffic Management Plan and associated documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Irish health, safety and environmental legislation, planning conditions, licences, permits and client requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety and environmental reviews.
• Review contractor competency, RAMS, risk assessments, method statements, permits to work, training records and certifications.
• Coordinate and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and HSE/environmental training.
• Maintain the project training matrix and ensure HSE requirements are understood and implemented across the site.
• Monitor controls relating to traffic, waste, pollution prevention, fuels and chemicals, dust, noise, water, drainage, ecology and protected habitats/species.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Provide practical HSE advice and guidance to Site and Project Management teams.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, designers, local authorities, the HSA, EPA and other relevant bodies where required.
• Identify, escalation and resolve significant HSE issues and non-compliances.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across the project.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' HSE experience within Irish construction.
• Strong knowledge of Irish construction health and safety legislation.
• Good understanding of the PSCS / PSDP framework.
• Experience preparing and implementing HSE Plans, CEMP, environmental plans and audit programmes.
• Experience managing RAMS, risk assessments, permits to work and incident investigations.
• Strong understanding of environmental compliance, planning conditions and construction-related permits.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of HSE delivery on site.
• Willingness to work on construction sites and travel where required.
