Job summary

Dawn Farms is seeking an HR Officer to support the Human Resources department in a busy food manufacturing environment. The role covers recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations to ensure safety, quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include advising management on policy, administering HR tasks, maintaining HR systems, and generating reports while supporting payroll coordination and staff development. Dawn Farms is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in HR in a busy Food Manufacturing operational environment.
  • Experience in recruitment, L&D, employee relations & wellness.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Ability to manage multiple HR issues in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise management & staff on company policy queries and employee relations issues, ensuring consistency.
  • Do all General operative recruitment start to finish.
  • Complete all administration tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Lead bi–weekly meetings with production managers.
  • Manage grievance & disciplinary investigations as required.
  • Liaise with payroll on staff pay items linked to recruitment, promotions, leavers etc.
  • Maintenance of the HR system; data entry, absences, hires, leavers, payroll changes.

Title: HR Officer

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Senior HR Manager

Purpose of the Role:

The Human Resources (HR) officer in Dawn Farms plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the business by managing the workforce effectively. In an industry as complex and demanding as food manufacturing, where safety, quality, and efficiency are paramount, the HR officer's responsibilities are multifaceted and essential for maintaining a productive and compliant workplace. The purpose of their role can be delineated into several key aspects: Talent Acquisition and Recruitment, Training and Development, Performance Management, Employee relations, Employee Benefits and Well-being, this is a non-exhaustive list.

Core Responsibilities

Food safety and health and safety are everybody’s responsibility. Food Safety policies, H&S policies, standard operating procedures and good hygiene practices should always be adhered to, to ensure the safety of the food being produced and the safety of you and your colleagues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise management & staff on company policy queries and employee relations issues, complying with legislation and ensuring consistency across the organisation;
  • Do all General operative recruitment start to finish.
  • Complete all administration tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Lead bi – weekly meetings with production managers
  • Manage grievance & disciplinary investigations as required;
  • Working closely with hiring managers, manage recruitment processes end to end, from advertising posts through shortlisting of candidates, interviews, selection and job offers for all departments
  • Deliver new employee inductions & ensure that we are compliant from a training aspect.
  • Liaise with payroll as required on any staff pay items linked to recruitment, internal promotions, leavers etc.;
  • Maintenance of the HR system (entering absence information, new hires, leavers, payroll changes, coding etc.);
  • Extraction and analysis of data from the HR system as required, e.g. payroll reports, attendance reports, trend and KPI reports etc.;
  • Represent HR at interdepartmental meetings and meetings with external third parties as required;
  • General administration duties relating to the HR function; raising PO’s, doing bike to work cheques, drafting work confirmation letters.
  • Produce accurate and professional correspondence, policy documents etc. as required;
  • Ensure HR administration and systems are maintained up to date in a timely and accurate manner;
  • In conjunction with the existing HR team review existing systems, to suggest and implement improvements;
  • Timely and accurate administration of all HR functions, including written correspondence, record keeping, filing etc.;
  • Undertake projects relating to a range of HR disciplines as assigned by the HR Manager.
  • Guide managers on issues related to employees.
  • Manage all weekly & monthly reporting including monitoring all permit renewals & expiries.

Knowledge and Experience to be demonstrated while in role:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in HR essential. Officer/Executive level in a busy Food Manufacturing operational environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in a fast paced and varied HR role requiring the person to take charge of many issues as they occur
  • Confident and conscientious with an ability to effectively communicate & present to all levels in an organization.
  • Ability to successfully learn, apply new skills and drive effectiveness within HR.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation
  • Have the ability to adapt to a generalised HR role dealing with all elements of the department such as Recruitment, L&D, Employee relations & Employee wellness.
