Job summary

Dublin Simon Community is seeking a Support Worker to assist clients in their daily needs and ensure best-practice standards within our accommodation services. You will work with a team to support clients in achieving their goals and participate in ongoing training throughout the year.

The role offers 37.5 hours per week on a full-time, permanent basis at Chester House, Dublin. Collaboration with the Service Manager and wider teams is essential to deliver compassionate, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree (level 7 or 8) in Psychology, Community Development, Counselling, Social Care, Social Work, or similar.
• 2 years experience working in a social or care setting.
• Understanding of homelessness and client needs.
• Record keeping and report writing.
• IT skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Support the project/key workers and management in implementing operational and strategic goals; follow up on support plan actions and help clients achieve their goals.
• Build professional relationships of trust with service users and residents, treating them with dignity and respect.
• Provide therapeutic and diversionary interventions to support mental health, self-esteem and motivation.
• Liaise with housing providers, health care professionals and social welfare; expand services to meet health needs.
• Deliver personal, professional and social development programmes.
• Assist in managing medications/health regimes and arranging healthcare appointments.
