Job summary

We are recruiting a Painter & Decorator to join Hodson Bay Hotel's Maintenance Team in Athlone. The role focuses on painting internal and external surfaces to a high standard, creating a safe, well-presented environment for guests and staff.

You will prepare surfaces, apply paints and finishes, and perform minor repairs, working with the maintenance team on projects. Full-time hours 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday, weekends off.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in painting & decorating or general maintenance.
• Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality finishes.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong awareness of health & safety practices.
• Reliable, organised and proactive approach.
• Ability to work across multiple properties within the hotel group in the Athlone region.

Responsibilities

• Carry out internal and external painting and decorating works across the property.
• Prepare surfaces for painting (sanding, filling, priming, cleaning).
• Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Complete minor repairs to walls, ceilings, woodwork and fixtures prior to decorating.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify areas requiring repair or redecoration.
• Maintain tools, materials and workspaces in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow all health & safety procedures when using equipment, ladders and materials.
• Work closely with the wider maintenance team on general upkeep and projects.
• Assist with other general maintenance duties as required.
