Beaumont Hospital in Dublin is seeking a Campus and Theatre Porter to support patient transport, equipment handling and stock control across the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Beaumont Hospital campuses.

The role involves working with nursing, medical and support staff to ensure safe patient movement, equipment decontamination and ground-breaking portering operations. An emphasis on infection prevention and PPE is required, with a 39-hour week and a fixed closing date for applications.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Leaving Certificate level or equivalent.
  • Desirable: FETAC Level 5 qualification relevant to healthcare.
  • Experience with manual handling and patient transport preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to and from wards, departments, diagnostic areas and theatres for tests, procedures and transfers of care.
  • Use appropriate manual-handling techniques, hoists and other aids to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times during movement and handling.
  • Transport beds, linen, waste, medical devices and supplies as requested across the campus.
  • Assist with stock ordering, control and liaison with nursing staff for stock requirements.
  • Comply with infection prevention and control policies and wear PPE as required.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new portering staff as needed.
  • Be flexible to work across departments and participate in overtime when required.
