Job summary

Fmc Nurseries Limited in Rathcanning, Dungourney, Co. Cork, Ireland, is seeking 2 Horticultural Employees to propagate, plant, cultivate and maintain nursery plants, trees and shrubs.

You will prepare soils and growing areas, monitor plants, control pests, assist with harvesting and packaging, and help customers with plant selection. This permanent, full-time role is 39 hours per week with an annual salary of €32,691.

A strong team and adherence to health and safety procedures are expected.

Responsibilities

• Propagate, plant, cultivate and maintain nursery plants, trees, shrubs and other horticultural products.
• Prepare soil, planting beds, containers and growing areas for propagation and plant production.
• Water, fertilise, prune, weed and monitor plants to ensure healthy growth and development.
• Carry out routine maintenance of plants and trees intended for sale in the nursery.
• Identify and control pests, diseases and weeds using appropriate horticultural methods and products.
• Pot, label, grade and prepare plants for display, storage and sale.
• Operate and maintain horticultural equipment, tools and machinery in a safe manner.
• Assist with harvesting, packaging and transportation of nursery stock when required.
• Monitor environmental conditions in growing areas, including irrigation, temperature and ventilation systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of nursery facilities, greenhouses and outdoor growing areas.
• Follow company procedures relating to health and safety, biosecurity and environmental management.
• Assist customers with plant selection and provide basic plant care advice when required.
• Work as part of a team to achieve nursery production targets and quality standards.
