Job summary

DALTONS OF CAHIR in Ireland is seeking anexperienced HGV driver with refrigeration experience to transport temperature‑controlled goods including food and pharmaceuticals. Primary duties include vehicle checks, loading secured cargo, maintaining correct temperatures, and completing deliveries on schedule.

You will keep accurate temperature logs, adhere to drivers’ hours and road regulations, and liaise with transport planners and depot staff as needed for delays or updates.

Qualifications

• Experience with HGV driving and temperature-controlled cargo.
• Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip checks.
• Familiarity with tachograph and delivery documentation.

Job Description

HGV driver with experience with fridges who will be responsible for transporting temperature-controlled goods such as food, pharmaceuticals, and other perishable products while maintaining the correct temperature throughout the journey.

Main Duties include:

• Conduct vehicle checks before departure, including refrigeration unit inspections.


• Load and secure cargo safely, ensuring goods are protected and temperature requirements are met.


• Monitor and maintain refrigeration temperatures during transit.


• Complete deliveries and collections according to schedules and customer requirements.


• Keep accurate records of temperatures, delivery notes, tachograph data, and vehicle checks.


• Comply with driving regulations, including drivers' hours, working time rules, and road traffic laws.


• Report faults or breakdowns of the vehicle or refrigeration equipment immediately.


• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are followed where applicable.


• Communicate with transport planners, customers, and depot staff regarding delivery status or delays.


• Carry out basic vehicle cleaning and maintenance checks to keep the truck and trailer in good condition.


• Use temperature monitoring systems and maintain audit trails for sensitive loads.
